PPGI Colour Coated Sheet

What is PPGI??
PPGI is pre-painted galvanised iron, also known as pre-coated steel, coil coated steel, color coated steel etc., typically with a hot dip zinc coated steel substrate.
The term is an extension of GI which is a traditional abbreviation for Galvanized Iron. Today the term GI typically refers to essentially pure zinc (>99%) continuously hot dip coated steel, as opposed to batch dip processes. PPGI refers to factory pre-painted zinc coated steel, where the steel is painted before forming, as opposed to post painting which occurs after forming.
The hot dip metallic coating process is also used to manufacture steel sheet and coil with coatings of aluminium, or alloy coatings of zinc/aluminium, zinc/iron and zinc/aluminium/magnesium which may also be factory pre-painted. While GI may sometimes be used as a collective term for various hot dip metallic coated steels, it more precisely refers only to zinc coated steel. Similarly, PPGI may sometimes be used as a general term for a range of metallic coated steels that have been pre-painted, but more often refers more precisely to pre-painted zinc coated steel.
Coating Process
Zinc coated steel substrate for PPGI is typically produced on a continuous galvanizing line (CGL). The CGL may include a painting section after the hot dip galvanising section, or more commonly the metallic coated substrate in coil form is processed on a separate continuous paint line (CPL). Metallic coated steel is cleaned, pre-treated, applied with various layers of organic coatings which can be paintsvinyl dispersions, or laminates. The continuous process used to apply these coatings is often referred to as Coil Coating.
The steel thus produced in this process is a prepainted, prefinished and ready for further processing into finished products or components. to use material.
The coil coating process may be used for other substrates such as aluminium, or aluminium, stainless steel or alloy coated steel other than "pure" zinc coated steel. However, only "pure" zinc coated steel is typically referred to as PPGI. For example, PPGL may be used for pre-painted 55%Al/Zn alloy-coated steel (pre-painted GALVALUME(r) steel*)
Over 30 million tons of such coated steel is produced today in over 300 coating lines just in Boxing which is a little county in North of China.

WHAT IS PPGI COIL??

PPGI Colour Coated Coil
This product is a coil of PPGI. PPGI is made by painting of Galvanized Iron prior to formation. Galvanized Iron is obtained when coated steel is continuously hot dipped to form Zinc of purity greater than 99%. Although the term PPGI is used loosely sometimes to refer to steel with various metallic coatings like Aluminum, Alloys of Zinc/Aluminum, Zinc/Iron and Zinc/Aluminum/Magnesium; in an exact sense, it refers to steel coated with zinc before formation (Pre-Painted Zinc Coated Steel). The Steel Substrate for PPGI is first produced through a CGL (Continuous Galvanizing Line) process after which it is coated with the metal and readied for preparation/manufacturing of various products. Before PPGI is ready to be converted into products, it is cleaned, pre-treated, and protected with various layers of organic coating and then sent for production.
Common furniture types that require PPGI Coils for manufacture include Steel Furniture and Venetian Blinds. SMEs belonging to these sectors are in demand of the PPGI Coils.

WHAT IS PPGI SHEET??

PPGI Profile Sheet

PPGI Sheets are sheets of pre-painted or pre-coated Steel that display high durability, and resistance against weather and UV rays from sunlight. As such, they are widely used as roofing sheets for buildings and construction. They do not undergo corrosion owing to atmospheric conditions and can be easily installed through a simple technique. PPGI Sheets are abbreviated from Pre-Painted Galvanised Iron. These sheets exhibit high strength and resilience and almost never leak or corrode. They are usually available in attractive colours and designs per preference. The metallic coating on these sheets are usually of Zinc or Aluminium. The thickness of this paint coating is usually between 16-20 microns. Surprisingly, PPGI Steel Sheets are very light weight and easy to manoeuvre.

Buildings like Detached Houses, Terraced Houses, Residential Multi-Storey Buildings, and Agricultural Constructions mainly have PPGI Steel Roofing. They can be fastened securely and they keep excess noise at bay. PPGI Sheets also have excellent thermal properties and thus can keep the interiors of a building warm during winter and cool during scorching heat.

Steel Companies :-
There are some of the great steel companies in India which provide steel coils and sheets all over India. Some of them are Jindal Steel, TATA steel and Steel Authority of India Limited.
1) Jindal Steel :-
JSW Steel is a flagship company of the JSW Group. The company is a leading integrated steel manufacturer. Currently one of the fastest growing companies in India, it has a presence in over 100 countries. JSW is also the first company to manufacture high-strength and advanced high-end steel products for its automotive segments.
With the largest product portfolio in steel, the company is also India's largest steel exporter, shipping to over 100 countries across five continents. With plants in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, it has the capacity to produce 18 million tons per annum (MTPA). Now, as the company ramp-ups production plans, it is on track to hit the 40 MTPA mark, within a span of 10 years.

2) TATA Steel :-
Tata Steel is currently the world’s second-most geographically diversified steel producer. The company one of the few steel operations that is fully integrated – from mining to the manufacturing and marketing of finished products. Continuous improvement in its product and service portfolio, along with success in value creating initiatives for customers, allows the company to serve global growth markets. Today, it operates in 26 countries and has a commercial presence in over 50 countries with employees across five continents. The company’s raw material operations are spread across India and Canada which helps it to be self-sufficient in steel production. It is planning to enhance installed production capacity to 30 MTPA by 2025.
3) Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) :-
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is the largest steel-making company in India and one of the seven Maharatna’s of the country’s Central Public Sector Enterprises.
The company produces iron and steel at five integrated plants and three special steel plants, located principally in the eastern and central regions of India and situated close to domestic sources of raw materials. SAIL manufactures and sells a broad range of steel products.

4) ESSAR Steel :-
Essar Steel India is an integrated steel producer with an annual production capacity of 10 million tonnes. Essar Steel’s manufacturing facility comprises ore beneficiation, pellet making, iron making, steel making, and downstream facilities including cold rolling mill, galvanising, pre-coated facility, steel processing facility, extra wide plate mill and a pipe mill. The steel plant located at Hazira has modern infrastructure like a power plant and a port that can handle 30 million tonne cargo annually.

With a focus on value added products, it produces over 300 grades of steel  conforming to quality standards of international certification agencies like API, ABS,  NACE, Lloyd’s Register to name a few. Essar Steel uses information technology extensively for its operations thereby ensuring consistent quality of its products.

Essar Steel has set up a 1.5 MTPA plate mill and a 0.6 MTPA pipe mill at Hazira to add further value to its product portfolio. With one of India’s largest steel processing and distribution network with a capacity of 4 MTPA located at several industrial hubs, Essar Steel manufactures customised products catering to a variety of industry segments.
